My Claim Was Denied, Now What?

It is not uncommon for people to apply for benefits and have their application denied. In fact, most applicants will be denied one or more times before they are approved to receive benefits.

Why is this the case?

The answer is simple, the qualification process requires lots of paperwork and documentation in order to prove you are eligible. If you do not send in all of the necessary paperwork, there is a mistake on the paperwork or the nature of your disability is unclear, you will be denied.  Many people are denied on technicalities through simply forgetting a piece of documentation or filling out a form incorrectly.

Unfortunately, the Social Security Administration is backlogged processing thousands of claims per week. They do not have the time to contact an applicant to request a piece of missing information. So, your claim is simply denied.

Where do I go from here?

There are two ways to proceed once your claim is denied. You can try to contact the agency to find out what information was incorrect or missing. This process can be very time consuming and there is no guarantee you will receive the information you are looking for.  An alternative is to contact an disability attorney to help assist you with your claim.

Having an attorney serve as your representative can take the burden off of you. Your attorney can contact the agency to find out what information was missing, incomplete or incorrect. They will complete the application paperwork for you and submit another application on your behalf.

An experienced attorney will be able to insure your application is accurate and complete.  Having a professional representative can make the chances of winning your case much higher than doing it alone. The Lee Law Firm knows you have enough to worry about, let us do the hard work for you!
