Qualifying for Social Security Disability Insurance Benefits With Heart Disease
Posted in: Conditions/Illness on July 26th, 2011

Despite the billions of dollars that are poured into outreach programs across the country and the world, heart disease is still the number one killer of people in the United States.  In addition to taking such large parts of the population per year, those who have been stricken with heart disease are often so impacted that they are unable to work or continue about the activities of their daily lives.  If you or somebody that you love has been hit with heart disease and is unable to work, he or she might be eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance benefits.

Disability Benefits

Heart Disease Disability BenefitsThese benefits are designed to give the individual who is unable to work due to their illness the money that they require to survive.  The average payout for Social Security Disability Insurance is not incredibly high – it hovers around 1,500 dollars per month – but for an individual who cannot work, any bit helps.  The problem is that applying for these benefits can be time consuming and quite onerous.

The average wait time for an individual who is applying for Social Security Disability Insurance benefits is 500 days, which can often be 500 days too long.

If you are applying for Social Security Disability Insurance due to heart disease or other illness, you will need to provide an application, information regarding any military service, W-2 forms, tax returns, social security numbers, bank information, medical records, dates of treatment and names of providers, and all medications being taken.  It can be quite a process, so be sure that you take your time while assembling the application. Being forced to submit twice can prolong the process even more!
